COVID-19 Response: ALL Tryout Dates Suspended

The Pittsburgh Huskies announce ALL previously scheduled Tryout activities are suspended until further notice.

The Pittsburgh Huskies are committed to the health and safety of all those involved in the sport and have come to the difficult decision to suspend all scheduled activities, including all previously announced tryout dates. Any and all updates will be made when the time is right to resume normal activities.

USA Hockey, the Mid American District and PAHL Executives have made similar difficult decisions to suspend all activities until further notice, following guidance from local health and medical professional organizations, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.

USA Hockey Update (5/4/20):

As USA Hockey continues adapting to the coronavirus situation, the safety of participants always remains our top priority. Thank you to all players, parents, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers for your continued passion and support for hockey in the United States and we’re all looking forward to returning to more normal times as soon as possible.

In conjunction with U.S. Ice Rink Association and U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey today published Returning to the Rinks. As we together work our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, USA Hockey will continue to provide updates to our associations and Affiliates. These considerations focus on initially returning to the rink for practices/tryouts only.

Local rinks and programs need to follow the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well state and local government officials in determining when, and how, it is appropriate to return to the rinks, including requirements or guidelines for physical distancing, size of gatherings or number of persons permitted in a facility, or wearing of masks, etc.

Mid-Am Update (5/7/20):

Given the current governmental orders in place within the boundaries of Mid Am,
the Mid Am board has chosen to extend the current suspension of any USA Hockey sanctioned activity from May 15, 2020 to June 15,2020. It is the board’s intention that this policy will not be extended beyond June 15 unless new and exceptional circumstances arise and are communicated by a governmental authority. Above will be in effect unless individual states within the Mid Am district issue a return to play order prior to June 15, 2020.

Everyone must continue to comply with the policy of their state with respect to group activities, youth sports, and rink openings.

Pittsburgh Ice Arena  Update (3/16/20):

In light of recent changes to the COVID-19 situation, and in accordance with recommendations made by the State of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Ice Arena will be postponing all scheduled events for the next 14 days. We will continue to monitor the situation, and update our customers if there are any new developments.
